Uniform

The Howick Primary School Uniform is a visual symbol of the school to which our students belong. School uniform plays an important role in fostering a culture of belonging and developing a sense of pride.  Students are expected to wear a clean and tidy uniform at all times with hair brushed and tied back if long.

The Howick Primary School Uniform offers a range of choice:

  • Cargo Pants
  • Polo Shirt (short sleeved and long sleeved 
  • Cargo Shorts
  • Skort
  • Dress
  • Polar Fleece
  • Beanie
  • Wide Brim Hat

Shoes are black in a style that suits your child as long as they are suitable for running, jumping and other athletic activities. Black sandals are a good summer choice.  In winter, black sports shoes seem to be the best choice. For junior school students do think about velcro to aid student independence. Shoes are expected to be black.  Students may choose to wear white or black socks or tights.  Shoes MUST be worn to and from school.

Additional Guidelines

  • All articles of clothing are expected to be named in a permanent manner.
  • School shoes must be black, flat and have laces or a strap. 
  • Ankle boots are not suitable for school. 
  • Long-sleeved undershirts (thermals) may be worn. These need to be black or white.
  • Short-sleeved undershirts may not be visible. These need to be black or white.
  • White or black socks may be worn with shoes only, not sandals.
  • White or black tights with feet only, may be worn.
  • Students may choose to wear a watch.
  • Hair must be a natural colour.
  • Students may wear a sleeper or stud earrings. These need to be plain simple gold or silver.  
  • Nail polish is not for school days and children are expected to only have clear polish (if any). 

Howick Primary Sports Uniform:
Students in Years 4-6 are expected to wear HPS Sports Uniform during class lessons and when representing the school at Interschool Events. Our HPS Sports Uniform can be purchased from our school onsite Uniform Shop.

You can purchase Howick Primary School school uniform directly from our own school uniform shop.

Our regular term opening hours are Mondays (excluding school holidays) from 8:30am-9:30am and 2:30pm-3:30pm.

Other ways to buy our school unifrom is from instore at our new provider, Prestidges. From the 10th of January 2025 items can be purchased new from Prestidges at 65 New North Road, Eden Terrace 1021.  

Prestiges is open Monday – Wednesday from 9am – 5pm, Thursday 9am – 7pm, Friday 9am – 4pm as well as on Saturdays from 9am – 3pm.

You can also shop online 24/7. Simply visit www.prestidges.co.nz and register for Howick Primary School by entering the school code HP225. Prestidges can courier to you or you can pick up from their store at 65 New North Road.
