At Howick Primary School, the safety and care of our international students is our highest priority. As an education provider, we have an important responsibility to ensure that our students are well-informed, safe, and properly cared for.
To support this, we adhere to the New Zealand Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students (the Code). The Code provides a framework for service delivery, ensuring a high standard of care for international students.

How many students are there in the whole school? Our school roll varies annually between 350 and 400 students, creating a close-knit and friendly community.
Where is Howick Primary School? We are located in the safe and welcoming suburb of Howick in East Auckland, New Zealand.
What extra programmes are there to help children learning English? We run a comprehensive and varied ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) programme to support students at all levels of English language proficiency.
Who are the ESOL staff? Our ESOL programme is led by Mrs Samantha Dunn, a New Zealand-trained teacher with many years of classroom teaching experience. To further support our families, our school leadership team has contacts that can assist in translation for our Korean, Taiwanese, Chinese, Japanese, and Afrikaans communities. We make every effort to support families from all countries.
