The school is governed by the Board of Trustees, an elected group of parents/caregivers.
All parents/caregivers are able to vote for these members when an election is held, usually every three years. The school keeps an electoral roll of all eligible voters. The Principal and staff representative represent the staff members.
Board of Trustees meetings are held monthly in the school Boardroom on a Monday at 5.30pm. Check the calendar for dates.
All board meetings have a public component to which anybody is welcome. Please come along to any of the upcoming meetings to find out more about how you can make a difference to Howick Primary.

Zeena Bode – Presiding Member
Hi, I’m Zeena – usually busy building dreams, solving puzzles, and adding a little sparkle to the community. You’ll find me living at the intersection of “What if?” and “Why not?”.
After university, I spent a decade building a custom wedding cake business from the ground up. That journey taught me more about resilience, grit, and strategy than any degree ever could, and it gave me the confidence to help others find their own path to success. I’m naturally wired to lend a hand; I believe deeply that what you pour into your community eventually flows back to you.
I’m a creative problem-solver with a lifelong love for colour, sparkles, and community projects (you might have seen my work with the kids on the uneven stumps near the library).
In 2015, I accepted a new role as an Executive Personal Assistant. By 2017, I took on a second client. The hours are exhausting and the pay is illegal but they’re cute, they make me laugh, teach me patience, and have shaped me into a better human being.
I likely hold the world record for “Most Browser Tabs Open at Once,” mostly because I see life as one giant puzzle. We usually have all the pieces we need; we just have to keep turning them until they fit. One day, if we’re lucky enough, we get to stand back and admire our creation and the beauty of the lessons we’ve gathered along the way.
Anna Brookes – Parent Elected
I am a recruitment professional, business owner, rippa rugby coach, vocal sideline supporter, and mum of 3 boys.
Having been part of the Howick Primary community for 7 years, with many more to go, I’m invested in this school continuing to grow its reputation, and opportunities for our kids to become well rounded, life long learners. With a keen interest in technology, stem learning, environment and sports and team activities, I’m excited about the potential for more growth and experiences that set our tamariki up for success. Primary school years are the ones we often look back on most fondly, and I want all kids at Howick Primary to have wonderful memories of their time here, in a place that is supportive and provides them well rounded opportunities, excellent learning and development, and fun!
As the world is changing at a more rapid pace than ever before, the work we do at a strategic and governance level is even more important in making sure we are taking our kids on the right path to help them become successful in all their future endeavours. I am excited to be part of the journey – thank you for having me on board!
Alysha Crooke – Parent Elected
Kia ora, I’m Alysha, proud mum to a student at Howick Primary School. My son has complex medical needs and is also neurodivergent, which gives me a strong understanding of the diverse experiences within our school community and the importance of inclusion and support for all students.
I’ve been an active volunteer at school events and am also involved with the Kidney Kids Foundation, helping to build awareness and community engagement, including the introduction of Howick Primary’s annual kidney kids gold coin mufti day.
Professionally, I have a background in administration and a strong focus on process, policy, and fairness. Raised in South Auckland and now living in Pakuranga, I’m passionate about ensuring every child has an equal opportunity to learn and thrive. I’m excited to support our school in continuing to be a welcoming and empowering place for all families.

Beccy Long – Parent Elected
Hello Howick Primary Whānau!
My name is Beccy Long, and I’m excited to have been elected as a new Parent Representative on the Board of Trustees.
I’m a familiar face here at Howick Primary—I’ve been a part-time teacher since 2019 and have a daughter in Year 5. I’m originally from England and have been teaching for 25 years.
My passion is simple: I love getting our students outdoors and practically involved in caring for our environment. I believe in empowering them to become eco-champions who share that knowledge with their whānau. I have helped set up many successful school initiatives, including the Garden to Table programme and organising the popular ‘moth plant pod’ competition.
Having been part of this community for years, I am committed to bringing your voice to the Board and supporting our school to operate smoothly. I’m currently running a walking school bus, so please let me know if your child would like to join us!
When I’m not at school, I’m usually out exercising—you’ll find me hiking up a mountain or exploring new bush tracks.
Natalie Robinson – Parent Elected
I am honored to serve as an elected parent representative on the School Board. I bring over a decade of high-level experience in major events, communications, sales, and marketing to this role, providing a strong foundation in strategic planning, budget management, and effective community engagement—all critical to serving our school.
My commitment to equity stems from my work as a dedicated disability and neurodiversity advocate. I am passionate about ensuring all students have genuinely inclusive, accessible, and supportive learning environments.
As a parent of a Year 3 student and a three-year-old, I am personally invested in the success of our schools. I look forward to using both my professional expertise and my firsthand parental perspective to drive high-quality educational experiences where all children and staff are supported and celebrated.
