PRINCIPAL'S PIECE
Kia ora Howick Primary School whānau,
It's wonderful to connect with you all again through our school newsletter! This term is shaping up to be a busy and exciting one, filled with opportunities for our students and community to come together. Keep an eye out for more details coming soon about our school disco, planned for the middle of this term – we know the tamariki will be looking forward to that!
On another positive note, we have noticed a vast improvement in behaviours during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up time. Thank you so much for your support in ensuring the safety of all our students by consistently parking in the right areas, using the school crossing or collecting your children to cross the road. Your cooperation makes a real difference.
Finally, we want to share some information from the team at Kelly Club, who run our out-of-school care programme. Kelly Club opens bright and early at 7:00 am and provides a fantastic and safe space for students who need to arrive at school before our gates open at 8:15 am. This ensures that all our tamariki are well-cared for from the moment they arrive. Kelly Club also operate in the afternoon from 3:00pm each day after school.

In-zone Enrolments
We are thrilled to see our in-zone enrolments continue to flourish at Howick Primary School! With 66% of our students residing within our local zone, it's clear that Howick Primary School is the school of choice for a significant majority of our neighbourhood families.
We are immensely proud to be the heart of learning for so many of our local tamariki and their families!

Attendance
A huge thank you for the wonderful attendance we've seen at school this term, 94% so far! It makes such a positive difference!
As a friendly reminder, it's a legal requirement in Aotearoa for all children aged 6 to 16 to be enrolled and attend school regularly, ensuring they don't miss out on vital learning and social connections. We understand that sometimes absences are necessary, so please do let us know if your child will be away. If your child is absent please call the school office or email absences@howickprimary.school.nz by 9:15am.
Consistent attendance helps students thrive academically and socially, and we're here to support you in making this a priority. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to connect with your child's teacher or the school office. Your partnership is invaluable!
