PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome to 2025

Kia ora HPS whānau,

A warm welcome to all our new families who have joined the Howick Primary community! It is wonderful to have you with us, and we look forward to getting to know you as you settle into school life. We also extend a heartfelt welcome back to our returning students and families - it has been fantastic to see everyone reconnecting and embracing the new school year with enthusiasm.
Our students have embraced the new year with enthusiasm, and it is great to see our school buzzing with learning and connection once again. We value and appreciate the support from our community and the integral role our families play in their children’s education. Strong partnerships between home and school create the best opportunities for our learners, and we are grateful for the time, effort, and encouragement you provide every day.

A special welcome to Mrs SangAh Joo, who has joined us as the newly appointed teacher in Room 13. We are excited to have her as part of our team and know she will be a fantastic addition to our school.

As we move through the term, we look forward to many exciting learning experiences and school events ahead. Thank you for being part of our journey and for making Howick Primary such a special place.

Kind regards,
Michael Earl
Principal

Thank You, Auckland Cricket!

Our Year 3 & 4 students had an incredible opportunity thanks to Auckland Cricket! Each student received a cricket bag, bat, and ball to take home, making it an exciting and memorable experience. They also got to personalize their new gear by designing their names on their cricket bags.

Before heading outside for some fun, students spent time in the classroom learning about cricket—its rules, techniques, and the importance of teamwork. It was lovely to see them playing cricket with their new cricket sets during lunchtime!

A huge thank you to Auckland Cricket for providing these fantastic resources and giving our students a chance to engage with the sport in such a hands-on and exciting way! Also a massive thank you to Mrs Synman for organising this.

Writer's Toolbox

We are delighted to have brought Writer's Toolbox into our school, an educational writing system designed to help students master writing. With real-time, individualised feedback at the exact moment they most need it, students will improve their writing ability and confidence. Teachers can create dynamic learning plans and track and support each student's unique progress. We are very excited about introducing Writer's Toolbox to our school.

A huge thank you to the Board of Trustees for investing in this valuable resource for our students. Your support ensures our students and teachers have the tools they need to achieve writing success!

Playground Update

We’re excited to share that work will begin this weekend to get the senior playground back in use for our students! We appreciate that this process has taken some time, and we’re working closely with the playground company to ensure everything is completed as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience—we can’t wait to see our kids enjoying the space again soon!
