It has been a wonderful start to the new term, and a special welcome to all the new families who have joined our school community; we are thrilled to have you with us. The week has been a great success, starting with our Pasifika Fono on Tuesday; it was fantastic to see so many of our families attend.
|

Our school Cross Country was also a highlight, and a huge thank you is owed to Lydia Snyman for her organisation of the Tui Cross Country and to Miss Bellew for leading the Kea Cross Country. A big thanks to all the parents who came to support these events. We can't be the school we are without our community.
|
As we look ahead, we remind you that the calendar on the school website and app holds the most up-to-date information on all upcoming events. We are eager to continue to connect with our community and will be holding our wider Community Consultation on Tuesday, the 9th of September, and our Hui a Whānau for our Māori families on Tuesday, the 16th of September.

Healthy Harold Visits Howick Primary School
|
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Life Education and the wonderful Healthy Harold the Giraffe for visiting our school this past week. Our students thoroughly enjoyed their time in the mobile classroom, engaging in valuable lessons about health and wellbeing. A special thank you goes to the Counties Manukau educator, Daniel, whose lessons were fun, engaging, and perfectly pitched for our learners. We are so grateful for our partnership with the Life Education Trust and the important work they do in our community.

Forging a path to the future!
|
Each Friday a small group of Howick Primary students had an incredible day at MOTAT, participating in the Innovation Forge workshop. The day was all about workshop safety and getting a close-up look at the amazing world of 3D printing. It was a fantastic, hands-on experience, sparking curiosity and creativity. Each Friday these students will be learning about something new and by the end of the term will be creating their own projects.

Tamariki are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character to celebrate their love of reading.

Netball Fun at Lunchtime!

Our netball girls had an awesome time at the Give It a Go session, run by the amazing team from Howick Pakuranga Netball Centre!They practiced their passing, shooting, and movement skills, picked up some new techniques, and most importantly, had loads of fun while building confidence on the court. It was a high-energy lunchtime session full of smiles, teamwork, and inspiration.A huge thank you to HPNC for sharing your time, knowledge, and passion for netball with us!

Attendance
A huge thank you for the wonderful attendance we've seen at school this term, 77% so far! It makes such a positive difference!

As a friendly reminder, it's a legal requirement in Aotearoa for all children aged 6 to 16 to be enrolled and attend school regularly, ensuring they don't miss out on vital learning and social connections. We understand that sometimes absences are necessary, so please do let us know if your child will be away. If your child is absent please call the school office or email absences@howickprimary.school.nz by 9:15am.
