Malo e lelei and warm greetings to our Howick Primary School community,

It has been a wonderfully busy and vibrant few weeks here at school, and the strength of our community has been on full display. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to support our movie night fundraiser. It was fantastic to see so many of our students, whānau and families enjoying the evening together.
|
|
|
|
The night was a resounding success thanks to the amazing organisational work of Natalie, and the support from Miss Jay. Thank you both for everything you do for our school.
|
The energy continued last week with our annual Book Week, which was another tremendous success. A huge thank you is owed to Susie for the incredible effort she put into organising such a fantastic week – it truly was a blast for our students. I’d also like to extend a special thanks to Zeena for her invaluable help assisting Susie at the book fair, and for generously giving her time to braid our gymnasts' hair for their competition. While on the topic of gymnastics, a huge thank you must also go to Mr G for the time he has dedicated to our boys and girls teams. On another important note, our upcoming Board of Trustees elections are a fantastic opportunity for you to have your say in the governance of our school. We are fortunate to have six members of our community who have put their names forward. A sincere thank you to our candidates:

Finally, an important reminder for our parents and caregivers. We are hosting our 'Keeping Ourselves Safe' parent information meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, 19th August, at 2:30 pm in the school hall. This programme is a vital part of our health curriculum, and this meeting is a key part of our home-school partnership in keeping our children safe. The programme will be delivered to students in Term 4, and we warmly encourage you to attend.

Gymnasts Shine at Interschool Competition
After weeks of dedicated training, our gymnasts showcased their skills and sportsmanship at the recent Interschool Competition. Our small boys’ team made their competitive debut, demonstrating remarkable improvement and determination against a field of tough competitors.
|
In the afternoon, our 20 enthusiastic girls took to the floor. They showed true resilience when, after a few challenges on the beam, they adapted their routines on the spot and performed brilliantly.

Individual Top Ten: A massive congratulations to Layla and Johane for placing 3rd and 7th in the individual competition.

Team Podium Finish: Our Year 6 Girls' Team—Layla, Johane, Madeline, and Anuprabha—secured an amazing third place overall!

A huge thank you to coach Michael Grimmer for his guidance and for preparing the teams for success.
